Armi Kuusela, the First Miss Universe

Forever Queens features the world’s beauty pageant titleholders of Miss Earth, Miss International, Miss Universe and Miss World.

For our first feature, here is the first Miss Universe winner.

Armi Helena Kuusela was born on August 20 1834 in  Muhos Finland.


 She was crowned the first Miss Universe in 1952. She was 17 years old that time. Her victory gave Finland its first Miss Universe title.

After her reign, she traveled in different parts of the world, including the Philippines, where she met her first husband, Virgilio Hilario.


Her husband died in 1975 because of heart attack. She remarried in 1978 to American Diplomat Albert Williams. They are both currently living in California
